Fixing a Deflated Breast
What You’ll Need:
- Syringe: Preferably at least 10ml. You can use smaller or larger sizes, but 10ml gives you good control. In this demonstration we are using a 2ml syringe.
- Needle: We recommend a 23G, 1.5-inch needle. (Syringes and needles can be purchased on websites like Amazon.)
Safety Note: Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and correct safety procedures when handling sharp objects. When handling a needle, always prioritize safety. Be cautious and avoid injuring yourself.
1. Attach the Needle: Start by attaching the needle to the syringe and remove the protective sleeve.
2. Draw Air into the Syringe: Fill the syringe with air by pulling back on the plunger.
3. Insert the Needle: Carefully insert the needle into the breast, aiming the sharp end toward the area where the breast looks deflated.
Tip: Insert the needle in a spot where the mark won’t be noticeable, such as around the nipple or in a natural crease or fold.
4. Inject the Air: Push the plunger to inject the air into the breast.
Important: You may need to inject air multiple times to fully inflate the breast. To do this, remove the syringe but leave the needle in place. Refill the syringe with air, reattach it to the needle, and continue injecting until the breast is fully inflated.
Alternatively, if you’re okay with using multiple injection sites, you can remove the needle completely after each injection and repeat the process in different spots until the breast is fully inflated.
5. Troubleshooting: If the breast isn’t responding as expected, or the wrong area is inflating, try injecting air directly into the indentation. Keep in mind that this method is more likely to leave visible needle marks.
6. All done: Your breast should be back to its former glory with zero signs of any previous indentations. Repeat on the other breasts if necessary.
You can repeat this process any time the breasts become deflated—there’s no limit on how often you can do it.
Fixing a Cut or Tear on Silicone
What You’ll Need:
- Silicone glue (available on websites like Amazon)
- Toothpicks or a similar small applicator
- Quick clamps or masking tape
1. Clean the Tear :
Make sure the tear or cut is clean. Wipe away any debris, fluff, or contaminants. You can refer to our cleaning guide for further help on cleaning the area properly.
2. Apply Silicone Glue :
Use a generous amount of silicone glue applied to a toothpick. It is essential to ensure the glue used is specifically for bonding silicone. This can be purchased directly from us or via online websites such as Amazon.
3. Open the Tear: With one hand, gently pry open the tear using your thumb and index finger—just enough to expose the inside, but not so wide that the damage worsens.
4. Coat the Inside of the Tear :
Apply the silicone glue to both sides of the tear. Use the toothpick to spread the adhesive evenly on all surfaces, getting as deep into the tear as possible. Be sure to coat the edges right up to the top.
5. Let the Adhesive Become Tacky :
Wait for about 5-10 minutes for the adhesive to become tacky. This allows the glue to adhere more effectively when the surfaces are pressed together. Refer to the product instructions for exact drying times, as they may vary depending on environmental conditions.
6. Press and Hold :
Firmly press the surfaces of the tear together, holding them in place for about 5 minutes to ensure a strong bond. Before the glue dries completely, gently wipe away any excess using your fingertips. You can use a dabbing motion to blend the glue with the doll’s textured surface.
7. Secure the Bond :
To ensure the bond holds permanently, use quick clamps or masking tape to hold the surfaces together. Leave the doll untouched for 24 hours to allow the adhesive to fully cure.
8. Important : Allow the doll to sit undisturbed for at least 24 hours before using it again to minimize the risk of the tear reopening.
Reattaching Fingernails
It's a fact of doll life... fingernails fall off, it happens a lot, during use, durig transit, yiu name it, fingernaisl just love to fal off. But fear not, but it is a very quick and simple fix. Follow these steps to reattach the fingernails and keep them looking good as new.
What You’ll Need:
- Superglue (fast-drying glue is recommended)
- Fingernail set (replacement nails)
- Tweezers (optional)
1. Clean the Fingertip: Before applying the new nail, gently clean the fingertip making sure to remove any dust, dirt, fluff or debris to ensure a clean surface for a strong bond. You can refer to our cleanign guide for more information on cleaning.
2. Select the Correct Nail Size: Use the fingernail set to find the best fit for the finger. Hold each nail from the set up to the fingertip and choose the one that matches the size and shape of the finger most closely.
3. Apply the Glue: I like to use tweezers for this step (optional): Hold the chosen nail and apply a small amount of superglue to the back of the nail and another small dot of glue to the tip of the finger where the fingernail will be attached.
Let the Glue Become Tacky: Wait for about 10 seconds to let the glue become tacky. This helps the nail stick securely without slipping.
4. Attach the Nail: Carefully press the nail onto the finger, aligning it with the natural curve of the fingertip.
Hold the nail in place for 30-60 seconds to ensure a firm bond.
If any glue seeps out from under the nail, quickly wipe it away before it dries.
5. Allow 10 mins Before Play: After reattaching, allow the glue to be fully set before handling the doll again (check the glue manufacturer's guidance for time). This process is quick and can be repeated whenever needed. Whether you are simply reattaching missing nails or want to give your doll a new makeover and new look with some fancy new nails, it's all about whatever you want, whenever you want.
Reattaching Eyelashes
Reattaching eyelashes is a common issue, especially when you’re changing or removing eye colours. Fortunately, it’s a simple process that anyone can complete with just a few tools and a little patience. Follow these steps to get those lashes back in place!
What You’ll Need:
- Superglue (fast-drying, just a tiny amount is needed)
- Tweezers
- Soft cloth (for cleaning)
1. Clean the Eyelid
Before attaching the new eyelash, make sure the eyelid is clean. Remove any dust, fluff, or old glue residue. You can gently remove the old glue with tweezers if needed (optional), making sure the surface is clean for a good bond.
2. Prepare the Eyelash: Hold the eyelash with tweezers. Apply a tiny amount of superglue to the far side of the eyelash—just one small blob is enough.
3. Let the Glue Become Tacky: Wait for about 20 seconds to let the glue become tacky. This will help the lash attach more securely without slipping
4. Attach the Inner Edge First
Carefully position the inner edge of the eyelash (the side closest to the nose) onto the eyelid.
5. Hold it in place for 1 minute: Apply light pressure using the tweezers.
Important : Avoid pressing directly on the glue with the tweezers, or they may stick to the eye.
6. Glue the Outer Edge: Once the inner edge is secured, the rest of the eyelash will still be hanging loose. Using tweezers, apply a small amount of glue to the outer edge of the eyelash.
Wait another 20 seconds for the glue to become tacky.
7. Hold in place: Carefully press the outer edge onto the eyelid and hold it in place for 1 minute, applying gentle pressure to secure the bond with the tweezers.
8. The Final Look
The finished result will have small glue spots on each end of the eyelash, securing it in place. This method ensures a clean attachment without over-glueing or risking damage to the eye area.
Repeat on the lower eyelashes if necessary.
Fixing a Crooked Neck
It is not uncommon for a doll's neck to become bent, which can often happen during transit. But fear not, this is absolutely normal and can be adjusted in less than 3 seconds.
Simply find a household item that can fit into the neck hole. For example, we're using the handle of a household cutlery in this demonstration, but you can use anything strong, like a screwdriver or the handle of a wooden spoon—anything that is strong and fits into the neck hole is good.
Use the item as a lever, and you can easily move the neck back into its normal position. If there are some creases in the neck, these will fade and be gone in a jiff. Don't sweat it!
Repairing TPE
Fixing a cut or tear in TPE is not as hard as you may think with the right tools, and the right instructions, you might be pleasantly surprised how east it is to repair TPE. Follow these simple steps to get your doll back to perfect in no time!
What You’ll Need:
- Soldering Iron
- Soapy water (for cleaning)
- Soft cloth (for cleaning)
IMPORTANT:
Before starting this process, we strongly recommend you attempt the whole process on a piece of scrap TPE (contact our staff if you would like a piece if scrap TPE to practice on), or in an area that will not be seen, for example the bottom of the foot, or top of the head (under the wig).
1. Asses the damage and tidy the cut.
This might seem obvious, but the first thing we want to do is see how deep the cut is, open it up using your fingers, and if necessary, you may need to "tidy" the cut so it is easier to work with. We want the cut to be as neat as possible.
2. Clean the cut.
Using a soapy water mix, spray the cut and clean thoroughly. This stage is very important because any dirt on the surface will cause further damage to the doll on the next step.
3. Dry the cut
Using clean micor-fibre cloth, pat dry the cut.
4. Weld the cut closed
Using a clean soldering iron, insert the hot end of the iron deep into the cut and apply heat to the inside edges until they appear wet or start melting.
The idea is to gently melt the inside edges so when we hold them together, they will melt into each other and form a weld.
This process will produce a lot of smoke, so ensure you are doing it in a well ventilated area, or outside.
5. Hold the cut closed
While the edges are still "wet", hold them together for a few minutes until they have bonded together.
6. Fix the outer edges
Now that the cut is closed, we need to fix the outer edge of the cut.
To do this; gently apply the long edge of the soldering iron to the cut using a sweeping motion. The idea is to apply as little pressure as possible to gently melt the top surface.
The TPE will start to look "wet". You can work the surface until it is smooth and flat. Try to taper the edges away from the cut so it blends seamlessly with the rest of the TPE.
Again, this process will generate a lot of smoke, so best performed in a well ventilated area, or outside.
7. Add baby powder
At this stage, you should have sealed the cut closed, and worked the outside surface so it is flat and smooth. If you have done it correctly, you should have what looks like a "wet smudge" where the cut was.
Apply baby powder onto the "wet smudge" and work it into the surface. This should remove the shine.
8. All done
After working the baby powder into the TPE, you should be left with an almost perfect repair.
If you are not happy with your results, you can always start again by cleaning thoroughly with soapy water and repeating the process.
